Song: Littleroot Town - Pokemon R/S/E

I was totally going to go on an angry rant about my grievances with the state of the world / politics / organized religion / all that jazz but I think I am deleting all that nonsense and replacing this entry with some neopets nostalgia! Woohoo! I am keeping the title though.

I rediscovered my PSP the other day which has NEOPETS: PETPET ADVENTURES: THE WAND OF WISHING in it. That game is one of my favorite childhood memories. To the point where I think I'm going to make a proper page/shrine/whatever dedicated to it while I replay it. Basically its a cute little fantasy rpg taking place in the petpet world. The beginning cut scene has this big brutal villain chasing another girl, and he calls at her "MEGAN!" in like the most gravelly funky bad-guy voice and its so funny. The game is painfully charming. There's petpetpets in it. Its corny. Idk what else you could ask for. I probably played through it atleast 15 times as a kid.

Neopets also did a game on the PS2, NEOPETS: THE DARKEST FAERIE, that was an absolute banger as well. Again, they just really nail the charm and tasteful corniness. I really miss Neopets and that whole era. There's just never been anything else quite like it. My favorite neopets were the Xweetok and Zafara.

Why does nostalgia feel the way it does? It should be happy but it hurts. The further we grow from our childhoods, the harder it is to ever experience those things quite the same, even if we can still do them. I can replay all my favorite old games and watch whatever cartoons I loved, but I'll never be a 10 year old curled up with my game in my hot pink saucer chair again.
