e actually finished things this month! Yay!!! Let's start with some new borders...

A forget-me-not border, using the flower from my illuminated letters series...

And dandelions! Because now that spring is rolling in over here, dandelions are popping up all over our yard and I love seeing them.

I

redid my skies collection background, because the last one was very sloppy and rushed!

nd I am really excited to be redoing my 2024 game FISHING BONANZA and giving it the proper LOVE and TIME that it deserves! There will be a dedicated section on the front page for game dev updates, but until then, here is a sneak peak of some sprites I have made. The new version of fishing bonanza will be coded in Godot this time instead of Love2D, because it came out way too buggy last time, lol.

For the record, the cichlid (4th sprite) was ASS!!!! to draw for some reason, but he turned out to be my favorite!

ere are my favorite songs this month. I hope making a monthly playlist will break me out of listening to the same music over and over because I don't want make a fool of myself and post the same songs every month. Also I watched Labyrinth for the first time the other day and it renewed my love for DAVID BOWIE! Fun fact, long before seeing the movie, Magic Dance was one of my favorite songs of his, but I didn't know there was context to all the baby and magic stuff. I thought the song was just like that...
  1. As the World Falls Down - David Bowie
  2. Runaways - Cafune
  3. Sextape - Deftones
  4. Call For Help - Pearly Drops
  5. The Perfect Girl - Mareux
  6. Magic Dance - David Bowie
  7. Entombed - Deftones

his month I read Coraline and started 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I have been meaning to read Coraline for the longest time because 1. its such a good movie and 2. I was surprised when I learned it was written by the same author as my favorite comic, Sandman, so I had to read it (we are going to have to separate the art from the artist here < / 3). The book is a lot more grim and creepy vs. the movie's whimsical and colorful feel. Also the last encounter with the Other Father is horrifying, I love how it was written. I was imagining him as like a globglogabgalab kind of situation.

The yeast of thoughts and mind

I am still too early in 20,000 Leagues to give much feedback but I am really enjoying it so far.

he year is already a quarter over. That feels like a big deal, but at the same time, it is only march, and when I think of march, I think, "oh its only march". Well for March, I think it would be nice to reflect on the resolutions I set for this year, like a Q1 report for the VileMagus.com shareholders. Let's see...
  1. fill a sketchbook: I need to draw way more! I started a new sketchbook and only filled a few pages.
  2. fill a journal: I am making good progress on my journal. I have been having a lot of fun with very basic barebones bullet journaling, which I highly recommend for those who are held back by perfectionism / the intimidation of the artsy journals that kinda dominate the journaling-sphere online.
  3. revive my sourdough starter: completed this goal in january! It actually came back to life surprisingly easily. I made a couple loaves that turned out really good.
  4. read 24+ books: well we are 1 and a half down...
  5. finish small projects often: I feel pretty good about the amount of things I have completed so far.
  6. learn everything: I need to make this more of a proper commonplace and have cooler in depth pages on topics.

Decent enough for our first quarter... see you next month...
