elcome to (from?) December friends! It is almost 2026 which means, well, nothing really, but I like to think that it is the start of something new and that the world will collectively decide to fix itself next year. I for one am going to meet my reasonable goals of getting ripped and making millions of dollars. And then something about my screen time I guess.

Projects

I

thought my illuminated letters were gonna kinda fizzle out, but I got really into making them and have 8 done now! They are based on flowers that start with the letter, so we have: Asters, Baby's breath, Cosmos, Daffodil, English daisies, Forget-me-nots, Goldenrod, and Hyacinths. Once I get the whole alphabet done I want to start using them on the site! The best and worst part about a series-type art project is that I feel that I get more skilled throughout the series and start disliking the first ones. I am eyeing you A and B.

And then I have a landscape I drew based on a photo I took in California! I used a technique that I have never done with pixelart before, where you put a grid on top of the photo and draw it one square at a time. I color dropped each square independently to give it that stitched together / quilt-y look. Honestly I really like how it turned out stylistically, plus I was able to get accurate proportions while still drawing freehand.

And here is a new border! They are little waves and I think it came out cute.

Books

Authority : Jeff VanderMeer

I

am so sorry to my boy Jeff because I was gushing over Annihilation last month, but with the second book here... I could not finish it! My library app auto-returned it before I could finish! I think I got like halfway in and only one interesting thing was revealed. The main character is literally the most boring person in the world. Every single interaction he had with his boss had to be dissected and thoroughly reflected upon and it genuinely drove me insane. And it would do this for every smile, every frown, every word, every movement... it mentally pained me to read through some of those conversations. I do still want to finish this book because I want to know how it ends, but I will have to check the book out again another time.

T

hat was my only book this month and I couldn't even finish it. Shame! My goal for next year is to read a lot, so I will have to do much better than this...

New Years...

T

his year I left my old job, my brother got married, we bought a house, I married my husband!!!!, and I got a new job. It felt like not much, but typing all that out, those are actually all kinda big things lol. Life feels like its moving both slowly and quickly. I can't complain I guess.

hile I had a good year on a personal level, this year has been fucking weird news-wise. All I can say about that is that it needs to get better. I really do think it will, eventually, but also, what the fuck is happening! My new years wish for the world is that every day doesn't have to be some new Breaking News and everyone can be a little normal. And for old people to get out of politics since they clearly aren't that invested in the future.

U

ltimately the only power I hold is over myself. I love goals and to-do lists, so of course I am setting some resolutions for next year, and I do not care if it is cheesy and overdone and "you don't have to wait for the new year to make goals" blah blah blah, I WILL:

  1. fill a sketchbook
  2. fill a journal
  3. revive my sourdough starter (she's been sleeping for a very long time...)
  4. read 24+ books
  5. send a lot of letters
  6. call family every week
  7. finish small projects often!!!! i think i need to make a separate goal list for art projects
  8. learn everything
  9. various home / health goals that no one wants to read about here

H

appy new year to all... I hope for 2026 that we can live in less interesting times.
